4 Must-Have Gifts For Him This Christmas Season

The Homesteading Husband Wish List

If you’re married to a homesteader, then you know that they are always working hard to maintain the property and take care of the animals. This Christmas, surprise your hardworking husband with a gift that he can use to make his job a little easier. Here are 4 gift ideas that every homesteader’s husband needs.

The 4 Must-Haves

1. A Good Pair of Gloves: A good pair of gloves is a must-have for any homesteader. We love this hard-working brand.

2. The Right Clothing: You will need clothing that is durable and comfortable, as you will be doing a lot of physical work. These Socks are AMAZING for keeping your feet warm while letting them breathe, and have a lifetime warranty. Get a hole, return them for another pair!

3. Sturdy Boots: Boots will protect your feet from getting injured as you work and will also help to keep your feet warm in cold weather. These ones with rubber soles add insulation and help keep his feet warm.

4. A Chainsaw: What hardworking husband doesn’t love a good chainsaw? We have a few different brands, and a few different sizes, but this one is a great all-purpose saw that can do a little bit of everything!

This Christmas, give your hardworking husband a thoughtful gift with one of these gift ideas. He’ll be able to work more quickly and efficiently, and he’ll appreciate having the right tools for the job.

Christmas Gifts For Moms Who Like to Garden

Christmas Gifts For Moms Who Like to Garden

What’s on my homesteading wish list?

It’s that time of year again! The time when we start thinking about what we want Santa to bring us to help us get ready for the upcoming Spring planting season. I’m a small-acreage homesteader, so my thoughts naturally turn to things that will help me in my food growing and preservation efforts. Here’s a short list of some of my favorite items. Hopefully it will give you some ideas for things to put on your own homesteading Christmas list!

OK, Let’s Get To The List!

A Food Dehydrator – A food dehydrator is a great way to preserve your harvest. This Nesco dehydrator gets great reviews and would be perfect for someone who is just getting started with food dehydration. I have had this brand for 16 years, and it’s about ready to finally bite the dust. When it goes, THIS dehydrator is going to be my upgrade!

A Good Knife Set – A good set of knives is essential for any kitchen, but it’s especially important if you do a lot of canning and preserving. This set is my very favorite and would make a great addition to any homesteader’s kitchen.

A Canner – A water bath canner is another essential piece of equipment for any serious home canner. This one is perfect for small batch water canning and comes at a very reasonable price.

THIS pressure canner, made and sold in the USA, is a serious heirloom piece. It’s practically indestructible, and if you purchase one from this link and use code TAKE20, you’ll save $20 off your order.

Now that they’re recognizing steam canning as effective again, I have my eye on this one as well to round out my canning options!

Garden Apron – Every time I’ve gone out to the garden this past season, I’ve wished I had an apron that could hold all the things I end up picking! I found this one that has a handy quick release pocket at the bottom, so you just stuff it full and then undo the clips to let everything slide into your bigger box or container! So handy!

Jar Sealer for Vacuum Sealing Jars – Now that we have a freeze dryer, I’ve been packaging a lot of things in Mylar, using oxygen absorbers for long term food storage. But some of the freeze dried foods I’ll use up within the next year, so there’s no need for mylar. I want this Jar sealer attachment so I can store my freeze dried foods in mason jars on the shelf for easy access while I’m cooking!

I hope this list has given you some ideas of things that you might want to put on your own homesteading Christmas list! Whether you are just getting started or you are already an experienced homesteader , there are always new products and books coming out that can help make your life easier . So take advantage of the holiday season and treat yourself to something special that will help you in your endeavors. Merry Christmas!
